“I’ve spent the majority of my career life in therapeutic settings. I started off as a Wilderness Therapy leader, working with troubled teens in the beautiful Utah landscape. Through slack-lining, rock climbing, and spending time outdoors, I had the opportunity to watch these kids heal and grow in ways I would have never imagined. It was through this experience that I developed an intense relationship with the rhythms of Nature; inspiring my path towards Vedic studies and the encouragement of helping others to live within Nature’s harmony as well.
I have been practicing Yoga for almost 20 years – and more than just Asana. I’ve been exploring the science of Ayurveda for almost 10 years, so I feel that I understand that Yoga embodies more than just the physical practice. Over these years, I’ve developed a detailed understanding of not only Yoga Asana, but also Meditation, Pranayama, Kriya, Mantra, Sanskrit, and the Vedic principles that underlie and support each of these things. Along with my knowledge in Yoga and Ayurveda, I also practice the science of Jyotish and combine these three things to teach my students on a much deeper level.
I primarily practice Ashtanga, but also practice Kalaripayattu, an ancient Indian martial art, regularly. When I started practicing, I was guided and mentored by Andrejs Gailis, who ended up being the most significant and influential of all my teachers. Andrejs was an amazing teacher and man, and it was through him that I developed an understanding of the depths of Vedic practices and Kalaripayattu. I feel extremely blessed and lucky to have crossed paths with Andrejs, and continue to let his influence guide me throughout my journey.
I studied at the California College of Ayurveda, and received my RYT 200 from Flow Yoga of Salt Lake City, UT. Since completing my trainings, I’ve successfully opened and expanded a yoga studio and Ayurvedic healing center in Salt Lake City, UT – one that started in the back of my car and since then, has grown into a beautiful community center where people nourish themselves and thrive.”
